Universal broadband need of the hour

According to a report by CMA, its high time government spent time and energy and applied determined efforts to make sure that the entire country has access to high speed internet broadband services, that too by the year 2017, if it wants the country’s economy to make significant progress in the coming years. For the country to be properly out of recession, it is very important that the online economy gets the required boost and becomes highly progressive. CMA is an important part of BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT in Britain.

CMA implores upon the political parties and the government to take concrete steps towards the development of broadband infrastructure in the country. Only talks and plans wont do. It is high time they got into action doing something about it. It also appealed to the local and regional firms to increase investment as well as stakes in online business, e-commerce services and other web services so as to increase the return on investment that would go into setting up of required network infrastructure and allied assets.

Currently, Britain lags behind many of its competitors such as Japan, Korea, Sweden etc in terms of broadband services in the country and just made it to the list of top 30 in terms of Broadband quality Score. In fact the IT community in the country is losing out against its counterparts in other nations because of the poor broadband coverage as well as connectivity issues in certain regions.
